Retro Single Fin Contest @ Batu Bolong

Retro is still a major hype around the surfing world too. So it's no surprise we see more and more retro boards on the beaches, which is a nice thing. Although, surfers have always been individualists, through the last years, you could see more and more different shapes appear in the line-up and surfers can just pick the stick they love the most. No matter if it is their standard 6"0' shortboard or their 9"5' wooden balsa board from the 70's. So, big ups for the Guys from Drifter, that are hosting the 3rd annual retro single fin contest today at Tugu beach, right next to batu bolong. The world of competitive surfing, could definitely need more inspiration, because progress is always a result of creativity.

Retro Single Fin Echo Beach

The contest directors will surely care for all your needs and you can just enjoy a nice day at the beach, meet some friends and dive into the local surf community, have a piece of cake and watch the aftershow later on.

Padang Padang - Bali

Earlier this week, a first solid swell appeared at the famous spot Padang Padang, where the legendary Rip Curl Cup Invitational will hopefully take place soon. Nevertheless, neither the contest organizers, nor the surfers estimated the swell to be large or consistent enough, to run the event.

James Hendy from Rip Curl, commenting on the decision, said: “This was the biggest swell to hit Bali during the waiting period so far… With the swell peaking overnight and dropping quickly throughout the day, we were skeptical it would provide enough size over a full day of competition. It's going to take a truly epic swell for us to give the green light to run the 10-year anniversary of the Rip Curl Cup.”

The crowd that already had gathered on the beach at Padang Padang on monday, didn’t get disappointed anyway. Among the free surfers who did a great show during the morning, in clean barreling 3-4 foot conditions, the audience was also impressed by ripping locals such as Garut Widiarta, Pepen Hendrik and Mustofa Jeksen, which are all invited for the main event too.

From now on, there are only two more weeks left in the waiting period for the Rip Curl Invitational. But since the contest will be held on one single day, we are looking forward to see the event to be completed until the 15th of August.

If you are still searching for accommodation during that time, you are certainly invited to join the Stormrider Surf Camp Bali. If you have any further questions, regarding your stay in Bali, always feel free to contact us!

The Rip Curl Invitational Bali will be broadcast live over the internet for the first time ever. That’s another big step in the history of the most important seasonal surf event in Asia.

Oakley Pro Bali, Juni 2013 in Keramas, Bali. (ASP WCT Contest)

Biggest Air at the Keramas Oakley Pro Contest 2013

This Summer, for the first time since 2008, the ASP will run a world tour event in Bali again. From 18 - 29 June 2013 Kelly Slater, Mick Fanning & Co. will make Keramas their playground for the never ending game of surf at the Oakley Pro Bali 2013. And there is of course a good reason why the WCT finally decided to return.

Keramas Oakley Pro Contest 2013

Keramas is not only considered one of Bali's most consistent point breaks, but the world. And as you might have heard, the wave quality is excellent at this time of the year. In addition to this world-class right-hander, there are also various other high class breaks nearby.

Anything is possible when you are out there on a good day, which is probably one of the greatest things in being a surfing professional.

Oakley Pro Keramas 2013 Contest

The spot is located eastwards on the peninsula. Especially on windy days, the east coast is always worth a Swellcheck for us. It is a 25km ride from the Stormrider Surf Camp to Keramas. Those of you looking for a stay, are of course always welcome to join us.

Check out the Oakley Pro Contest Website for more Pictures on the now closed contest.
